Women with chronic illness face systematic dismissal in clinical encounters. Symptoms are minimized, attributed to anxiety, or met with years of inconclusive evaluations before a diagnosis is finally reached. The clinical term is medical invalidation — and a growing body of research documents both its prevalence and its biological consequences.

Alexandra Schoch is the Founder & CEO of SEEN. She holds a BA in Cognitive Science from Columbia University with a focus in psychoneuroimmunology, where her senior thesis won the Senior Thesis Prize for Distinction and the Best Analysis Prize and is being prepared for publication. Admitted to Columbia Mailman's MPH program, she deferred to build SEEN. She brings more than ten years of healthcare nonprofit leadership, and lived experience of the diagnostic delay SEEN interrupts.
Marina Meyjes is the Co-founder of SEEN. She holds a BA in History from UCLA (summa cum laude) and an MPhil in Politics and International Studies from the University of Cambridge (First), with a focus on political economy and feminist technoscience, and brings more than six years of nonprofit and think tank experience, most recently in AI policy. Her work is grounded in research, policy, and qualitative methods, and in lived experience of medical invalidation.
